Dara Bibi is a 45 year old woman with five young children who reside in the neighborhood of Hassan Town in Lahore. Dara Bibi is the sole earner of bread and butter for her family after her painstaking separation from her husband. She exhausts herself from dawn to dusk at several homes as a helper to earn a meager amount in order to make both ends meet. Dara Bibi has the education and future of her children in mind and that drives her to work harder than ever. Only one of her daughters is married and the rest of her children are at a school going age. Her total expenses exceed her total income and she has to work extra shifts in order to pay the bills, let alone serve food on the plate of her children. With the pink rickshaw, several of her hopes are attached. Her dreams to have a bright future for her children, and marriage of her daughters finally has some hope of fulfillment. Tags
