Haideri Mohalla is located in the slum area of Lahore and there in her small dwelling Jamila Begum, aged 44, separated from her husband, lives with her son. Her elder daughter is married while her son is her only support; both emotionally as well as financially. However, his income as a worker at the local pharmacy is very low while Jamila works as a house maid and a helper at houses earning. From a total income, Jamila and her son are trying to make both ends meet. Some days it is impossible to feed their stomach becuase of unafforability and less purchasing power. Being the sole provider of bread to his family, it became difficult for her son to continue his education for a better, more stable future. However, with the pink rickshaw, Jamila Begum expects to take load off of her son's shoulder and help contribute in his education so that he can make a better living for both of them and think about his future also.
